Stupid question of the week

mars 8, 2010

When I hear an advertising for Coca Cola on my favorite radio… Coca Cola PAID the radio to play the ad. Ok. But when I hear a song from Madonna on my favorite radio… it’s the radio paying !
Why ?
4 minutes of a Madonna song in 2010, that’s an advertising for Madonna’s real [...]

Karajan et Le Figaro

janvier 16, 2010

Today’s stupid question

décembre 14, 2009

Let’s imagine that you decide to install all your music on a gigantic Hard Disk Drive. You could buy an external 1 TeraByte drive for less than 100 euros. Fine. Now, let’s add music on it.
You have three solutions.
1. Copy your CDs
This is legal (private copy) and you can benefit from the maximum quality available [...]

Music videos – new type of deal

avril 30, 2009

Product placement. Two magic words. If you don’t know what it is, just go and watch any recent James Bond movie : every brand you’ll see there hides a financial deal. Each recent James Bond movie is a huge advertising space. Product placement can also be a very good solution for smaller & shorter productions, [...]

New software to schedule a « radio » on Mac OS X

mars 10, 2009

There exist tens of software to schedule music on PC (Dos & Windows), but the offer on Mac OS X remains small, almost inexistent. That’s why it’s interesting to have a look at this little application.
RadioLogik chooses tracks from playlists in iTunes with a little bit of extra logic to figure out times and artist [...]

Singers get new opportunities

mars 6, 2009

We all know times are tough for the music industry. Guess what ? That doesn’t mean times are tough for singers and composers ! Actually, after those transition times will be gone, it may be a much easier world for music makers.
Twenty years ago, recording an album was a very expensive process, involving a lot [...]

Kids prefer MP3 to hi-fi recordings

mars 6, 2009

We all know kids are deaf. Maybe not technically deaf, but at least for sure quality-deaf.
I had a conversation recently with a 25 y.o. girl listening to 56 kb/s MP3 (not, it’s not a typo…, I wrote 56 !). I was playing for her some Deutsche Grammophon recordings on CD, trying to make her hear the [...]
